You can see for miles over the plain from the top of Gabeljung.
The hill is a part of the delta formed when the inland-ice melted. In the pastures below it there are marshes and pools where the edible frog gives concerts in the early summer. At the edge of the marshes you can find the Western Marsh Orchid, Glaucous Sedge and other lime-thriving varieties.
The woods at Gabeljung have a rich animal life, with roe, fallow deer, badgers and squirrels. Kites and buzzards nest here. If you're lucky you might see a passing sea-eagle in the winter, perhaps on its way to the nearby lake at Havgård.
Getting there: Gabeljung can be reached from Norra Grönby, northeast of Anderslöv. Turn east into Gabeljungsvägen, just south of the road to Grönalund. Drive 600 meters and park your car at the old gravel-pit, today planted with larch and pine.
